LUCENT MODEM DRIVER

About of LUCENT MODEM DRIVER

linmodems.org
The "official" winmodem in Linux site. Acts as a mother site of all linmodem projects.

  • The FIRST step towards finding a Linux driver is identifying the modem's CHIPSET

  • Controller based modems utilize the 'standard' serial drivers, while the winmodems in most newer PCs and laptops require their own drivers

  • (Be sure to check the first.)' Much more information or driver kits for particular chipsets can be obtained at: Manufacturer names of Lucent or Xircom may be displayed by the query 'lspci -vv'

  • Linuxant offers the latest and greatest general purpose Conexant drivers for Linux

  • winmodems, drivers were NOT available as of May, 2001

  • (DSP) (HSP) US Robotics isn't offering drivers, but some speculate that they are based on (OEM versions of) Rockwell/Conexant hsfi drivers

  • There's a Linuxworld story about a PCTel linmodem driver

  • The driver has been released, but PCTel does not distribute it

  • There are driver compiler kits for Lucent chipset modems, serving more recent 2.2.nn & 2.4.nn kernels, largely replacing a binary only driver compiled under 2.2.12 sources There are updates for the 2.2 and 2.4 kernels

  • : , Kernel 2.2.17-14cl , Kernel 2.2.17-21mdk , Kernel 2.4.3-20mdk , Kernel 2.2.14-5.0 IBM has written a modem driver for IBM ThinkPad™ 600, 600E, and 770 models which contain the Mwave chipset under the GPL licence

  • Infrared I installed the irda-common package, uncommented (or added, I don't recall) irattach /dev/ttyS1 to /etc/irda/drivers and made /dev/pilot a link to /dev/ircomm1 and I can sync my Palm III over IR

  • The drivers from also work

  • Sometimes the Alsa package doesn't work right, and I think this is because parts of the Maestro sound chip are powered down and the Alsa driver doesn't know how to turn them back on

  • A work around is to load the kernel maestro driver (when Alsa is not loaded) with the option use_pm=0 , then unload it, and then load the Alsa modules

  • If you are running a 2.4 kernel you can also use the CardBus (yenta) driver which is included with the kernel

  • I have successfully used an ov511 based USB webcam, an based (the necessary driver is part of kernel 2.4.10), and the digital still camera

  • With it running I can just plug in my devices and the proper driver gets loaded without any hassle

  • BTW, the 1.42 version of the ov511 driver (on the webpage linked above) works much better than the one included in the kernel)

  • Using the 5.95a driver from I built the Debian package, installed it, and then the modem was working

    Linux on ASUS M6R (M6722)
A guide to running Linux on the the ASUS M6R.

  • News, updates December 7, 2005: Broadcom 4306 WiFi driver in development

  • September 14, 2004: patch for ATI IXP audio, fix for xvideo/swsusp, new Mahoromatic wallpaper, updated kernel config (VFAT charset fix), ATI binary drivers for X link

  • Contents (mostly OK) (OK) (unsupported) (OK) (OK even with 3D/DRI, no TV-out) (OK) (OK) (OK) (OK) (probably OK) (OK) (OK) (OK) (binary-only driver) (maybe supported) (mostly OK) General information As a whole I can recommend this laptop

  • There are some parts which do not work with Linux or work with binary-only driver (WiFi interface, maybe OpenGL acceleration)

  • When you plug in a SD card, it is identified this way: # cardctl ident Socket 0: product info: 'RICOH', 'Bay1Controller' manfid: 0x0000, 0x0000 function: 254 ((null)) The spec sheet can be ordered from Ricoh, so writing a driver should be possible

  • I have tested the PCMCIA/Cardbus interface with the Lucent Orinoco Wi-Fi card ( orinoco_cs driver), and it works

  • Binary-only from ATI support TV-out and dual-head setup, but no 3D acceleration (I have not tested these drivers; thanks to Alexandre Mitev for providing the link)

    AirPort | Wi-Fi | 802.11b wireless networking for the PowerBook ...
Step-by-step tutorial on putting an old Apple PowerBook online with 802.11b/Wi-Fi/AirPort
    wireless networking.

  • NOTE: I had initially thought, as Accelerate Your Mac, that the even-older PowerBook 5300—infamous for some units' catching on fire in the mid-'90s—could only be corralled into working with 802.11b/AirPort networks using an older version () of the ORiNOCO/WaveLAN driver, as well as Mac OS 8.6, since 9 is too slow on that ancient hardware

  • I set up my 5300ce and 5300cs a while back with WaveLAN Silvers and ORiNOCO 7.2 drivers.' So there you have it

  • You also need the right software, including a compatible operating system , networking components, the right wireless drivers , client software , and up-to-date wireless firmware for your card and access point

  • Similarly, if you're using Mac OS X, you can definitely use Apple's AirPort card, or a third-party card with appropriate new drivers

  • The ORiNOCO drivers and software support a wide range of operating systems, from Mac OS 7.5 to 9, as well as various flavours of Windows and Linux

  • - This card is much newer, and I'm not sure what chipset it uses, but it has drivers for everything from Mac OS 7.5 through Mac OS X, as well as Windows and Linux

  • No additional PCI drivers are necessary

  • Drivers: The 3.3.6 versions of the XF86_SVGA and XF86_Mach64 both work for my machine/screen/card combination; I use the XF86_Mach64 driver

  • Some users report problems with the XF86_Mach64 driver and suggest a patch or an altered binary

  • Note that when compiling the kernel configuration, the console driver ATI Mach64 display support must be set to No
